Man struck, killed by freight train in Carlsbad
Reporting from San Diego —
A 22-year-old man was struck and killed by a passing freight train late Thursday night in Carlsbad, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
According to witnesses, the man ignored the crossing warning system and attempted to cross the tracks as the Burlington Northern Santa Fe train approached around 11:30 p.m.
The man was declared dead at the scene. His identity was not immediately released.
