Police were searching Wednesday for the husband of a woman found stabbed to death in the couple’s San Bernardino apartment, authorities said.

Family members of Ashley Atherley, 28, said they called authorities after they hadn’t heard from her in the days after Thanksgiving. During a welfare check Sunday, officers found her body in the bathroom, fatally stabbed, according to a statement from San Bernardino police.

Police said Atherley was likely killed over the weekend.

Police believe the woman’s husband, Edly Atherley, was likely the last person to see her and had left the apartment before her body was discovered by authorities. He is being sought for questioning, police said.

Her death appears to be related to domestic violence, police said.
