Rapper 2 Chainz arrested at LAX with marijuana, ‘purple drank’
Rapper 2 Chainz was arrested at LAX this week after officials found marijuana and a bottle of “purple drank” in his checked bag.
Tauheed Epps, 35, was removed from a departing flight and arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, according to a statement from Sgt. Belinda Nettles, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Airport Police.
Airport police responded to a narcotics investigation in the baggage check area of Terminal 5 at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Transportation Security Administration agents told officers they found marijuana and a bottle of promethazine with codeine, the key ingredients in the drink known as “sizzurp” or “purple drank,” in Epps’ checked bag.
2 Chainz was taken to the airport police station for preliminary processing and then booked at the Los Angeles Police Department Pacific Division without incident, Nettles said.
Epps was released that night on $10,000 bail, records indicate.
Just two days earlier, the rapper was reportedly robbed at gunpoint in downtown San Francisco.
