Ed Sullivan statue recovered in good condition, police say

A solid bronze statue of Ed Sullivan that was taken from its pedestal at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Hall of Fame Plaza has been recovered in good condition, Los Angeles police officials said Thursday.

Authorities were releasing no details about how it was recovered because no suspects are in custody, said Lt. Brian Morrison. It was reported stolen Sunday.

The statue, about 1 1/2 feet tall and weighing 20 pounds, was on display as part of an outdoor exhibit featuring legendary TV personalities and pioneers.
