Tropical storm remnants to bring showers, thunder to Southland

Remnants of Tropical Storm Ivo are expected to pass over Southern California early this week, increasing the chance of showers and thunderstorms across the region.

A flash flood warning was issued for central Riverside County on Sunday afternoon, particularly in the areas burned by the Mountain fire in July. A flash flood watch has also been issued through early Monday evening in the Inland Empire and Santa Ana Mountains slopes, according to the National Weather Service in San Diego.

Remnants of Tropical Storm Ivo will move into Southern California, mainly to the east, increasing humidity and creating a chance of showers and thunderstorms across the entire region, said David Sweet, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard.

On Monday there will be a slight chance of thunderstorms and showers over the Angeles National Forest in the Antelope Valley, Sweet said. That chance will increase and spread to the rest of Los Angeles County, including the coasts and valleys, by late Monday night and into Tuesday, he said.

Temperatures will be in the 70s to 80s at the beaches and mid- to upper-80s inland, with the valleys reaching the lower- to mid-90s Monday and Tuesday. Later in the week, temperatures are expected to be three to eight degrees warmer, with dryer conditions, he said.
