Woman, 81, killed in Artesia hit-and-run, authorities say
Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies said they were looking for a driver who killed an 81-year-old woman in an Artesia hit-and-run Saturday morning.
The victim, whose name has not been released pending notification of her family, was struck while walking east in a crosswalk at the intersection of Norwalk Boulevard and Droxford Street about 4:40 a.m., said Sheriff’s Sgt. Todd Knight.
Instead of stopping, the driver continued south on Norwalk, Knight said. Deputies have little information on the vehicle involved -- not even its make or model -- noting only that it is thought to be red. Investigators believe that the vehicle “sustained substantial damage” in the collision, said Knight. No other details were available.
Deputies asked anyone with information on the driver to call investigator Chris Bronowicki at the Lakewood sheriff’s station at (562) 623-3500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477. All tips can be made anonymously.
