Reader photo: Ocean poppies

Share

Nicola Buck came upon pockets of poppies along a path at Will Rogers State Beach on April 10. Buck said she hoped to go to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve to photograph the state flowers, but found they weren’t thriving this year because of the dry weather.

The color contrast and potential for an interesting perspective drew her into this shot, which she took with a Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

“I love to get down at ground level for a lot of my pictures,” she said. “It makes flowers seem giant.”
