Soldier from Sacramento killed in Afghanistan

A soldier from Sacramento was killed in Afghanistan when his unit was attacked by an improvised explosive device, the Department of Defense announced Monday.
Spec. Ray Ramirez, 20, died Saturday in Wardak province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, from Fort Stewart, Ga.
Ramirez was on his first deployment. He enlisted in March 2011.
