Riverside firefighters rescued a man Monday from Mt. Rubidoux who may have been trapped under rocks for days.

Ramon Llamas told the Riverside Press-Enterprise that he was hiking with his dog shortly before 8:30 a.m. when the German shepherd-chow mix pulled him over to some rocks off the main trail. There, Llamas said, he saw a man whose foot was trapped.

Llamas gave the man some water and flagged down other hikers to call for help, the newspaper reported.

Firefighters told the newspaper that the man was alert but seriously dehydrated. He was pulled from the rocks and driven down the mountain, where an ambulance transported him to an area hospital.

Details about the man, including his name or exactly how long he had been on the mountain, were not immediately available.
