LAPD shooting: Officer wounded, apparently in shoulder or side
A Los Angeles police officer was wounded, apparently in the shoulder or side, and the bullet may have been stopped by the officer’s ballistic vest, authorities told The Times on Monday night.
The officer was hit after a man walked into the West Bureau traffic office and opened fire around 8 p.m., the Los Angeles Police Department said. The suspect was wounded after at least one officer returned fire.
Monday night, the suspect was still at the station on Venice Boulevard near La Brea Avenue.
One other person may have been wounded, Officer Sara Faden said. She said initial reports from the scene stated there were “multiple victims.”
Police cordoned off several blocks around the scene, which also houses the LAPD Wilshire Division.
