Reader Photo: Downtown symmetry

Share

A Hawaiian-turned-Angeleno, photographer Rob Shum calls himself a sucker for Los Angeles architecture.

He was roaming the streets of downtown Los Angeles during his lunch break and paused to admire a building near Wilshire and Figueroa. Several birds were flying overhead. He waited for the birds to scatter until he could capture his own image of perfect symmetry.

“There’s beauty everywhere as long as you take the time to look around,” he said. “Something about the birds convey a freedom that one can only imagine.”
