Record heat? Nope, this week it’s all about cooler weather, clouds and scattered showers

After a week of record heat and wild weather, Southern California is in for a cooling trend.

Morning fog and low clouds are the order of the day, with highs in the L.A. Basin with highs between 70 to 80 degrees. There will be a chance of drizzle Sunday night.

Monday will see a 20% chance of rain, and Tuesday, there will be a 30% chance, according to the National Weather Service. The weather those days will cool down to the 60s. Inland valley area will be slightly warmer but will also have the chance of scattered showers and cloudy conditions.

The cool-down comes after downtown L.A. recorded the highest temperature since recordkeeping began in 1877 -- 113. Long Beach tied for the hottest day ever recorded.

Over the last three days, the region has experienced thunder, lightning, hail and flash flooding, particularly in foothill and inland areas. On Saturday, hundreds were left without power amid bursts of severe storm activities in such places as West Covina, the Hollywood Hills and Redlands.
