To the editor: One of my favorite “Yogi-isms’:
When asked if he thought Joe DiMaggio’s marriage to Marilyn Monroe was good for baseball, he reportedly replied, “I don’t know if it’s good for baseball, but it sure beats the hell out of rooming with Phil Rizzuto.” (“Yogi Berra, 1925-2015: A baseball legend,” Obituary, Sept. 24)
Exceptional eyesight like that helped make him a great catcher and hitter.
