McCain-Palin: On the road again

John McCain launched Sarah Palin’s national career: A spot on the GOP’s 2008 ticket, a multimillion-dollar book-deal and a million-dollar per-episode reality TV show.

Now Palin is trying to help McCain salvage his -- after four terms in the Senate and two in the House, the onetime prisoner of war who was his party’s nominee for president faces an intra-party rival back home in Arizona who could derail the old “maverick.’’

The two, who once energized the Republican base with their appearance on stage at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn., in the summer of 2008, are launching the spring and summer of a heated 2010 primary campaign in Arizona today with an appeal to that same party base.

They will campaign together today and Saturday in Arizona, and raise money today at the hotel in Phoenix where they conceded their 2008 loss to President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
