Community readies for Thanksgiving potluck

Share

The Friendship Shelter and Neighborhood Congregational Church will partner once again for Laguna Beach’s annual Thanksgiving community potluck on Thursday.

An estimated 600 to 700 meals will be served buffet style, with food and supplies provided by individuals, churches and community groups.

A group of carvers will slice hot turkeys and hams, while volunteers will organize displays and prepare bag lunches for the needy to take home.

“Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days in this community,” shelter Executive Director Dawn Price said in a statement. “It’s a unique celebration where everyone is encouraged to come and share a meal among neighbors and friends.”

Donations of food — especially prepared and cooked turkeys — are needed and will be accepted beginning at 11 a.m. Thanksgiving Day at the church at 340 St. Ann’s Drive. The feast begins at noon.
