Community group helps spread a Spark of Love

Members of Club Q, an LGBT social group affiliated with Laguna Beach Seniors delivered presents to the Laguna Beach Fire Department Dec. 4 as part of the Spark of Love holiday gift drive.

Club Q filled 17 bags with gifts such as dolls, toy cars and trucks, board games, puzzles, jump ropes, books, and stuffed animals. Each year the group gathers gifts for the Alternative Sleeping Location, Laguna Food Pantry and the fire department.

For the gift drive, firefighters will be will be accepting new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment for disadvantaged children through Dec. 24.

The collections are at the city’s four fire stations: 501 Forest Ave.; 285 Agate St.; 2900 Alta Laguna Blvd.; and 31646 Second Ave. For more information, call (949) 497-0700.

Firefighters will deliver toys to a warehouse, where they will be distributed to children in need, Capt. Thomas Padden wrote in an email.
