Three people were arrested early Wednesday after burglaries at two Huntington Beach businesses that led officers on a pursuit through the city, authorities said.

Police got a call about a possible burglary at the Waba Grill at 18641 Beach Blvd. about 2:25 a.m., said Public Information Officer Jennifer Marlatt of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The caller provided a description of the vehicle as the driver fled, police said.

Officers saw the suspect’s vehicle traveling without lights northbound on Beach Boulevard at Slater Avenue and tried to stop the vehicle, but a pursuit ensued, Marlatt said.

As the vehicle tried to get on the northbound 405 Freeway on-ramp north of Edinger, it hit a guard rail and lost control. It went down the embankment and landed in the ice plant alongside the on-ramp.

Two of the vehicle’s three occupants fled, but all were located and arrested, Marlatt said. The vehicle was reported stolen from Lakewood.

All the suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary, vehicle theft and conspiracy to commit a crime, and the driver also faces charges of felony evading. Their names were not released because they are minors, Marlatt said.

Police also got a call at 4:52 a.m. about a broken window at the Flame Broiler at 7971 Talbert Ave.

After reviewing surveillance footage, officers determined the same suspects from the Waba Grill incident apparently broke into the Flame Broiler.

An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from both businesses, Marlatt said.
