A 15-year-old Huntington Beach Boy Scout raised more than $1,500 and donated more than 60 care bags for the homeless Tuesday.

Spencer Nichols brought the packages to one of the Huntington Beach Police Department’s Homeless Task Force officers, Gabriel Ricci, and the city’s homeless outreach coordinator, Catherine Lukehart, as part of his Eagle Scout project.

Each bag was filled with supplies like shampoo, soap, lotion, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, first aid kits, sunscreen, lip balm, tissues, a comb, toothbrush, toothpaste and deodorant.

Last month, Spencer also distributed 50 additional care packages at the Greater Huntington Beach Interfaith Council’s Homeless Task Force Expo.

Spencer expects to receive his Eagle Scout award by the end of the year.
