Notre Dame will release results today of its internal investigation into the Oct. 27 scaffold lift collapse that killed student videographer Declan Sullivan, the school announced Sunday.

After its own investigation, the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration fined the South Bend campus $77,500 in March for ignoring industry standards that could have prevented Sullivan’s death.

Notre Dame subsequently filed paperwork to appeal the findings, filing an official notice of contest, which allows campus administrators more time to digest the ruling and meet with agency officials.

Sullivan, a Long Grove native, died while filming a practice Oct. 27 when the hydraulic lift he was manning toppled in gusts of up to 53 miles per hour.

Notre Dame banned the use of hydraulic lifts to film practices following Sullivan’s death and now uses a remote-controlled camera system to record practices.

Notre Dame president Rev. John I. Jenkins, athletic director Jack Swarbrick, football coach Brian Kelly and Peter Likins, former president at the University of Arizona and an independent reviewer of Notre Dame’s investigation, are among those that will attend Monday’s news conference.
