So much for the impending loss of trademark protection persuading Washington Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to change his team’s controversial name.

A couple of ‘Skins fans -- Sean Labar and Shelby Myers -- were selling the “Keep the Name” T-shirts they’ve been marketing the last few weeks outside of the team’s training camp facility in Richmond, Va., on Saturday morning.

According to the Washington Post, a black Escalade pulled up soon after practice ended and out stepped Snyder, who approached the two entrepreneurs.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently canceled the Redskins’ trademark registration. But Snyder and the team are appealing the decision, so for now the team’s name and logo are still under federal trademark protection.

But instead of telling the men to shut down their operation, Snyder shook their hands and said, “Love the shirts, guys, love what you’re doing,” according to the Post.

Snyder and his wife then proceeded to purchase four $15 shirts, which feature only part of the logo and does not actually mention the Redskins by name. About a half hour later, members of Snyder’s security team returned and bought six more shirts for the owner.

“Being a Redskins fan my entire life, that kind of reached the pinnacle for us,” Labar told the Post. “We always talked about maybe getting a player to get in the shirt, or maybe getting a coach to get in the shirt. But when you have an owner willing to come spend his money on your shirts, that was kind of the ultimate honor.”
