Dodgers top prospect Corey Seager was named to the Arizona Fall League’s “Fall Stars Game,” which will be played Saturday. The game will be televised by MLB Network.
Seager, 20, is one of the youngest players in the AFL, which is a finishing school for baseball’s top prospects.
Seager is batting .255 with seven runs batted in after 13 games for the Glendale Desert Dogs, which also has players from the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers and Detroit Tigers.
“He’s probably as good a hitter as I’ve seen at the minor league level,” said Desert Dogs Manager Lance Parrish, an eight-time major league All-Star.
Seager is 6 foot 4 and viewed by some as a future third baseman, but has played shortstop for the Desert Dogs.
The Dodgers’ first-round pick in 2012, Seager batted a combined .349 with 20 home runs and 97 runs batted in between Class A and double A.
