Football: QB Chase Garbers leads Corona del Mar to Dana Hills passing tournament title
It’s time for Corona del Mar quarterback Chase Garbers to start humming, “Movin’ on Up,” the theme song from the 1980s TV series, “The Jeffersons.”
He’s a quarterback moving on up to the upper echelon in Southern California. He gave a sneak peek of what might be coming this fall, leading his team to the championship of the Dana Hills seven on seven passing tournament on Saturday.
Corona del Mar started the day with a win over City Section Division I champion Narbonne and ended the day with a 28-21 win over Edison in the championship game.
The 6-foot-2 Garbers is an accurate passer with a recent scholarship offer from Washington. Yale is also pursuing him.
“He’s very good,” Edison Coach Dave White said.
Narbonne made it to the semifinals before losing to Edison, 24-21.
Edison will be in good hands with junior to be quarterback Griffin O’Connor.
