Football practice officially begins for City Section schools at the end of the month, and Sylmar, with 15 starters back, has high hopes of making a City Division II title run.
Coach John Brazil intends to unleash junior quarterback Clarence Williams, who has plenty of weapons to choose from, including receivers Anthony Muse and Daniel Mendoza and running back Marcus Gandy.
Division II is shaping up to be very competitive after San Fernando won the last two seasons. South Gate, Eagle Rock, Chatsworth and the host Tigers all figure to have competitive teams.
