Track: Vista Murrieta’s Michael Norman is creating lots of excitement

Coley Candaele is both the football coach and the track coach at Vista Murrieta. He’d love to take advantage of the speed of sophomore Michael Norman and let him catch a ball and run for daylight, but as the track coach, he understands Norman wants to focus solely on track.

“He’s a special kid,” Candaele said.

The rest of the state is about the find out about Norman over the next two weeks.

Last week, he won the Southern Section Division 1 400 in 47.50 and won the 200 in 21.06.

He’ll be competing on Friday at the Masters Meet at Cerritos College, then move on to the state championships June 6-7 at Buchanan High in Clovis.

Candaele said Norman loves competing in track and that’s the sport he’s going make an impact in.
