AT THE PLATE: Corey Smith slugged a three-run home run and Marcus Thames added a solo homer. Andre Ethier, James Loney and Matt Kemp also had run-scoring hits.

ON THE MOUND: Top prospect Rubby De La Rosa retired the first six batters he faced and pitched 52/3 scoreless innings while giving up only two hits and striking out six.

EXTRA BASES: Jerry Sands made a diving catch in right field on a ball hit by Justin Smoak. The Dodgers ended spring training with a record of 14-21-1.

ROSTER MOVES: De La Rosa was among the players who didn’t make the opening day roster, along with pitcher Scott Elbert and outfielders Gabe Kapler and Trent Oeltjen, Manager Don Mattingly said. Those making the club included catchers A.J. Ellis and Hector Gimenez, infielders Aaron Miles and Ivan De Jesus Jr., outfielder Xavier Paul and pitchers Lance Cormier and Mike MacDougal.

OTHER NEWS: The Dodgers will hold a celebration of Duke Snider’s life at their Aug. 9 game at Dodger Stadium, and Dodgers players will wear a memorial patch of Snider’s uniform No. 4 all season. … Clayton Kershaw announced he’ll donate $100 for each of his strikeouts this season to the poverty relief group Arise Africa. He struck out 212 batters last year.

UP NEXT: Kershaw faces Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants on opening day Thursday at 5 p.m. at Dodger Stadium.
