Reds put Devin Mesoraco on disabled list

The Cincinnati Reds put catcher Devin Mesoraco on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of a strained left hamstring suffered while scoring from second base in the team’s 5-4 loss at Atlanta on Friday.
The Reds recalled catcher Tucker Barnhart from triple-A Louisville to play behind Brayan Pena.
Pirates’ Russell Martin, Jason Grilli are put on DL
The Pittsburgh Pirates put catcher Russell Martin on the 15-day DL because of a strained left hamstring and closer Jason Grilli because of a left oblique strain.
Martin was injured in the sixth inning of the Pirates’ 1-0 loss to the Cardinals on Friday.
Cubs’ Jose Veras is put on DL
The Chicago Cubs put reliever Jose Veras on the 15-day DL because of a strained left oblique.
Right-handed reliever Brian Schlitter was recalled from triple-A Iowa to take Veras’ spot on the roster.
Veras has a 15.88 earned-run average over six games, blowing both his save opportunities.
Hand injury lands White Sox’s Conor Gillaspie on DL
The Chicago White Sox put third baseman Conor Gillaspie on the 15-day DL because of a left hand contusion and added right-handed pitcher Hector Noesi to the roster.
Gillaspie is on the disabled list retroactive to Tuesday. He is batting .302 with 12 runs batted in.
The White Sox claimed Noesi off waivers from the Texas Rangers on Friday. He is 0-1 with a 14.21 ERA this season with the Rangers and Seattle Mariners.
