A look at Friday’s top high school football games:

Ventura St. Bonaventure (5-2) at Westlake Village Oaks Christian (7-0), 7 p.m.

The Marmonte League season begins with a showdown game between schools that once sued the Southern Section over area placement. Oaks Christian is led by its high-powered offense featuring sophomore quarterback Matt Corral, receivers Michael Pittman and Colby Parkinson and running back Gil’Scott Jackson. St. Bonaventure relies on versatile quarterback Darius Vines. Which team will be best at stopping the big play?

The pick: Oaks Christian.

Mission Viejo (8-0, 2-0) at San Juan Capistrano San Juan Hills (7-0, 1-0), 7 p.m.

This is the biggest game in San Juan Hills’ relative short football history. San Juan quarterback Patrick O’Brien, protected by a powerful offensive line, will try to score points against a tough, physical Diablos defense.

The pick: Mission Viejo.
