No. 6 Maryland snaps two-game skid with an 86-82 win over Michigan

Robert Carter scored 17 points and sixth-ranked Maryland bounced back from consecutive losses to defeat Michigan, 86-82, on Sunday in College Park, Md.

Jake Layman had 16 points and Melo Trimble scored 13 for Maryland (23-5, 11-4 Big Ten). Freshman center Diamond Stone finished with 13 points after being suspended for the previous game by Maryland Coach Mark Turgeon for a flagrant foul against Wisconsin.

Mark Donnal shot 10 for 13 from the field and scored 25 points for Michigan (19-9, 9-6), which made 13 of 27 three-point shots.

at No. 21 Southern Methodist 74, East Carolina 63: Nic Moore had 22 points, including four three-pointers after halftime, and seven assists to lead the Mustangs (22-4, 10-4 American Athletic Conference) past the Pirates (10-17, 2-12).

Markus Kennedy added 19 points and Jordan Tolbert had 12 points and 12 rebounds for the SMU, which has alternated losses and wins in its last eight games following an 18-0 start. The Mustangs never trailed after an 8-0 run before halftime, and took the lead for good when Moore hit consecutive threes in a 27-second span after the break.

Prince Williams had 20 points on eight-for-13 shooting for last-place East Carolina (10-17, 2-12), which lost its sixth consecutive game.
