Bob Baffert takes aim at another CashCall Futurity victory
Always count on Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert to have a few 2-year-olds ready for the richest Grade I event of the Hollywood Park autumn meeting, the $750,000 CashCall Futurity set for Saturday at the Inglewood track.
Baffert has won the race a record five times, and he’s scheduled to send out Drill, Liaison and Sky Kingdom in a race that has attracted 13 entrants at 1 1/16 miles on the Cushion Track.
In 2009, Baffert won the race with Lookin At Lucky, who went on to become the 3-year-old champion.
There are four stakes winners in the field Saturday — Liason (Real Quiet Stakes), Drill (Del Mar Futurity), Majestic City (Hollywood Juvenile) and Rousing Sermon (California Cup Juvenile).
Impressive maiden winner Blingo, owned by Jerry and Ann Moss and trained by John Shirreffs, was a late entrant after winning a mile turf race Nov. 25.
