Tennessee suspends receiver Da’Rick Rogers

The University of Tennessee has suspended standout wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers for an unspecified violation of team rules and, according to Coach Derek Dooley, he probably won’t play at all this season.
“Junior wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers does not appear on the depth chart for the N.C. State game, as he has been suspended indefinitely because of a violation of team rules. His status for the remainder of the season is yet to be determined,” was the statement the school released on the matter.
Dooley later told golvolsxtra.com that Rogers wouldn’t play this season.
There is no word yet on what team rules Rogers violated, but he has had a troubled past. He was arrested after a bar fight in 2010 and is reported to have had several heated arguments with coaches on the sidelines during games.
Rogers was an all-Southeastern Conference selection last year with 67 catches for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns.
According to the depth chart Tennessee released Thursday for its Aug. 31 season opener with North Carolina State, Cordarrelle Patterson will start in Rogers’ place.
