Peyton Manning pranks Broncos teammate with bill for Duke workout

Peyton Manning is serious about putting in work during the off-season. In fact, he’s already got new teammate and former Patriots receiver Wes Welker running pass routes at Duke with teammates Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker, according to NFL.com.

As a 12-time Pro Bowl quarterback and Super Bowl XLI MVP, Manning knows a thing or two about getting ready for the regular season. But what you can’t tell from his illustrious career achievements is that he’s also got jokes.

Everything appeared to be good between the Denver players; Manning even told ESPN that the work ethic of his teammates was motivating.

“It’s kind of inspiring for an old player like me to be around guys that love to work,” Manning said. “It makes me proud to play quarterback.”

That, however, does not mean working out with the wily veteran comes without a price.

Manning apparently had a bill drawn up and given to Decker listing the charges the wideout had incurred during the workouts at Duke.

His fellow teammates received notes on similar stationery, but were told to play along when Decker received a $3,000 invoice.

The invoice from Duke Football:

  • On-field instruction from Duke Football Coaching Staff ($500 per session): $2,500

  • Laundry service from Duke Football Equipment Staff ($20 per session): $100

  • Taping, Treatment, etc., from Duke Football Athletic Training Staff ($50 per session): $300

  • Facility fee ($150 per day): $300

  • Airport Shuttle: Free

The charges, which included a 7.25% tax rate, totaled $3,217.50.

“Nice little practical joke Peyton drew up ... making me think I have to pay for workout in Duke t/week,” Decker tweeted with a photo of the invoice.
