Another Bob Baffert-trained 3-year-old wins stakes race
Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert nominated 23 of his 3-year-olds for this year’s Kentucky Derby, and they keep winning stakes.
The latest winner is Super Ninety Nine, who trounced the field by 11 1/4 lengths to win the $300,000 Southwest Stakes on Monday at Oaklawn Park under jockey Rafael Bejarano. Fear The Kitten was second and Heaven’s Runway was third in the 1 1/16-mile race.
On Sunday at Santa Anita, the Baffert-trained Shakin It Up won the $150,000 San Vicente Stakes for 3-year-olds at seven furlongs.
