ON THE MOUND: Jerome Williams, in his first spring game since 2009 — he was in Taiwan in 2010, in independent ball in 2011 and injured last year — pitched two innings and gave up one run, a home run. “I got the first homer out of the way. That was pretty cool,” said Williams, projected as a long reliever and spot starter.

EXTRA BASES: Reliever Michael Kohn, who sat out last season after Tommy John surgery, pitched one perfect inning in his first appearance in two years. Reliever Nick Maronde, who gave up one run in 12 games as a rookie last season, gave up three runs in two-thirds of an inning.
