Jack Taylor, who scored 138 points for Grinnell, out for season
Jack Taylor, a sophomore at Division III Grinnell College who set the NCAA single-game scoring record with 138 points in November, is out for the season after breaking his wrist on his shooting arm.
Taylor sustained the injury on Wednesday night in a 119-117 victory over Cornell College, a rival in the state of Iowa.
Taylor will be out two to three months following surgery, which will take place within the next week.
Taylor made national news on Nov. 12 when he scored 138 points in a 179-104 victory over Faith Baptist Bible College.
The previous NCAA scoring record had been 113, which was set in 1954 by Bevo Francis of Rio Grande College.
Taylor finishes the season with a 36.3 scoring average for the Pioneers, who are 9-3 overall.
