The Stanley Cup champion Kings took care of another bit of housekeeping -- an important one -- by finalizing the contract extensions of General Manager Dean Lombardi, Coach Darryl Sutter and executive Luc Robitaille on Friday morning.

Lombardi also holds the title of team president and Robitaille is the team’s president in charge of business operations.

As reported earlier this week by The Times’ Helene Elliott, Lombardi’s four-year extension runs through the 2016-17 season. Sutter has three more seasons after this lockout-shortened campaign.

“We are ecstatic that we have kept our leadership team in place both on the hockey side with Dean and Darryl and on the business side with Luc and remain in position to continue competing for the Stanley Cup for many more years,” said AEG’s Tim Leiweke, who is the Kings’ governor.

“They have all done a fantastic job in their respective areas and they have put together outstanding leadership teams. They collectively are a huge reason why our franchise is enjoying the success we are enjoying.

“Now the challenge is to stay on top of that mountain.”

Lombardi and Sutter will be commenting on the developments at Friday’s scheduled practice in El Segundo. It will be the last session before Saturday’s season-opener against Chicago at noon at Staples Center.
