Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova to meet in French Open Final
No. 1-ranked tennis star Serena Williams will face second-seeded Maria Sharapova in Saturday’s French Open Final.
During Thursday’s semifinals, Williams beat Sara Errani 6-0, 6-1 in 46 minutes and Sharapova beat Victoria Azarenka 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 in two hours, 10 minutes.
Williams, 31, won her first and only French Open title in 2002. She will be the first American woman to reach the Finals since her victory.
Williams is a lifetime 13-2 against Sharapova, including 3-0 this year, with wins in finals in Miami and Madrid.
