President Obama’s NCAA bracket has Indiana winning it all

President Obama correctly picked the winner of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament just once during his first four years as president, choosing North Carolina to win it all in 2009.

He predicted a better track record in his second term, starting with his choice of Indiana to win it all this year as he revealed his bracket to ESPN on Tuesday.

“I think this is Indiana’s year,” Obama said.

The president chose the Hoosiers, the top-seeded team in the East bracket, to defeat Louisville, the No. 1 seed out of the Midwest, in the championship game.

He rounded out his Final Four with Ohio State, the No. 2 seed in the West, and Florida, the No. 3 seed in the South. According to his predictions, the top seeds in those regions will lose in the Sweet 16 -- No. 1 Kansas to No. 4 Michigan in the South, and No. 1 Gonzaga to No. 5 Wisconsin in the West.

The Badgers are the closest thing Obama has to a Cinderella team, as the only squad predicted by the president to reach the Sweet 16 that is not seeded in the top four of its region. And his two biggest upsets in the first round come at the expense of the Pac-12, with two No. 6 seeds falling to No. 11 seeds -- UCLA to Minnesota and Arizona to Belmont.

Obama also revealed his Final Four for the women’s tournament -- three No. 1 seeds in Baylor, Connecticut and Notre Dame, and a No. 2 in California. His entire women’s bracket will be released Friday.
