Brian Shaw is a highly respected assistant coach in the NBA, currently working as the associate head coach of the Indiana Pacers.

Shaw has interviewed for several head-coaching positions in the past, and is one the candidates the Clippers are considering to replace Vinny Del Negro as the team’s coach.

Shaw, 47, has had the good fortune to have worked under and played under former Lakers Coach Phil Jackson.

As a Laker, Shaw played alongside two of the best to ever play the game in Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant, and he played with Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics early in his career. Shaw was always told by Jackson that he had a good mind for the game.

The pros: Shaw won three NBA titles as a player with the Lakers and two as an assistant coach with the team. He has an even-keel demeanor and thinks things through. He has been given credit for helping to develop Pacers forward Paul George, who became an All-Star this season, and guard Lance Stephenson.

The con: Shaw has never been a head coach in the NBA.
