College basketball roundup: Arizona rolls in final tuneup

Chance Comanche scored a career-high 14 points Tuesday night, and four other players scored in double figures for No. 18 Arizona in a 77-46 rout of New Mexico at Tucson, Ariz.
Freshman Rawle Alkins scored 13 points and grabbed a career-best 11 rebounds as Arizona dominated on the boards, 49-30. Lauri Markkanen also scored 13 points for the Wildcats (11-2) in their final tuneup before beginning Pac-12 Conference play next week.
Elijah Brown scored 17 points for the Lobos (7-5).
at No. 20 Oregon 75, Fresno State 63: Jordan Bell scored a career-high 23 points, and the Ducks (11-2) built a big first-half lead before having to hold off the Bulldogs (8-4), who pulled to within three points with 8:08 to play. Oregon has won nine in a row, and 33 straight at home, heading into its Pac- 12 opener Dec. 28 against No.2 UCLA at Eugene, Ore.
No. 9 Creighton 96, at Arizona State 85: Marcus Foster scored 29 points, Justin Patton added 18 and the Bluejays (12-0) hit 14 three-pointers to overcome a slow start and remain undefeated. The Sun Devils (6-6) held their own in the first half against the highest-ranked nonconference opponent to play in Tempe since No. 7 Ohio State in 1980.
at No. 11 West Virginia 84, Radford 57: Esa Ahmad led three Mountaineers in double figures with 17 points. Radford (4-7) stayed close in the early going before West Virginia (10-1) took off on a 30-4 run to build a 53-22 halftime lead.
at No. 17 Xavier 85, Eastern Washington 56: Edmond Sumner scored 12 of his 14 points in the first half at Cincinnati, and the Musketeers (10-2) shook off a sluggish start to roll to their third consecutive win. Jacob Wiley had 16 points for Eastern Washington (8-4).
at No. 19 Saint Mary’s 67, Texas A&M Corpus Christi 46: Calvin Hermanson scored 18 of his 19 points in the first half, and Jock Landale had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Gaels (9-1), who have won three in a row since suffering their only loss of the season against Texas-Arlington on Dec. 8. The Islanders (7-3) put together a second-half charge before fading down the stretch.
