College football: A look ahead this week

Three thoughts for the coming week:

1) Now that a reloaded Ohio State has risen to No. 2 in the polls, the Buckeyes have a chance to cement their place near the top with matchups against Rutgers and Indiana before an Oct. 15 showdown at Wisconsin.

2) Here’s another Heisman Trophy candidate to watch in the coming weeks — Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers. The standout defensive player also had 204 all-purpose yards with a punt return for a touchdown and 24 rushing yards against Colorado.

3) As if things weren’t bad enough at Notre Dame, someone on Coach Brian Kelly’s staff inadvertently liked a tweet calling for defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder to be fired. The Irish defense, surrendering an average of 32 points, needs to get well this week against Duke.
