Andrew Luck, Colts topple Giants in 40-24 victory

Andrew Luck threw for four touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts defense kept Eli Manning and the New York Giants off balance Monday night to win, 40-24.

With his franchise-record seventh consecutive 300-yard game, Luck helped send the Giants to their third consecutive defeat.

“It was great to get back in the win column after a tough one last week,” Luck said of the Colts’ 51-34 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers the previous week.

The Colts head into their open week with a two-game lead over the Houston Texans in the AFC South.

Luck connected with Coby Fleener for a 32-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. He had touchdown throws of 31 yards to T.Y. Hilton, 40 yards to Reggie Wayne and two yards to Dwayne Allen in the third quarter.

Adam Vinatieri kicked four field goals and is perfect in 20 tries this year.

It was the eighth time this season that Luck had thrown for more than 300 yards and the 17th time in his three NFL seasons. He was 25 for 46 for 354 yards.

Wayne surpassed James Lofton for all-time yards receiving and has 14,070 in 14 seasons.

Giants first-round pick Odell Beckham Jr. had eight receptions for 156 yards, by far his best game.

Manning threw for 359 yards and two touchdowns, but most of that came with the game decided.

Luck seemed to look for Fleener on every pass in the first half. That well-established combination — they played together at Stanford before joining the Colts in 2012 — paid off on consecutive plays for the game’s first touchdown.

New York was plagued by drops by its receivers, an inability to sustain a ground game and enough pressure on Manning to force long or high throws that had no chance to be caught.
