The Rams selected Southern Mississippi wide receiver Michael Thomas in the sixth round with the 206th pick in the NFL draft.
Thomas, 6-feet-1 and 200 pounds, caught 71 passes for 1,391 yards and 14 touchdowns last season.
Thomas was drafted despite not being among the invitees to the NFL scouting combine.
“It just motivated me more to keep going,” he said during a conference call with reporters. “It put a lot of fire in me.”
Thomas was one of five offensive players selected by the Rams, including California quarterback Jared Goff, South Carolina receiver Pharoh Cooper and tight ends Tyler Higbee of Western Kentucky and Temmarick Hemingway of South Carolina State.
Kentucky linebacker Josh Forrest was the only defensive player drafted by the Rams.
