Panthers LB Luke Kuechly watches practice, but does not participate
Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly attended Wednesday’s practice with the team but was only an observer as the All-Pro linebacker remains in the concussion protocol.
Kuechly, who suffered a concussion in the second quarter of last week’s 20-9 win against Jacksonville, took his baseline concussion test Tuesday. The results of the test are unclear at this time.
Kuechly’s status for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans remains in the air.
Kuechly came to practice at the end of the team installation period Wednesday with head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion. He stretched with his teammates and chatted with fellow linebacker Thomas Davis and head coach Ron Rivera.
When the team broke for position drills, Kuechly jogged to the far field and looked on as the linebackers went through drills. Kuechly did not do any work on the side, including pedaling on an exercise bike, in the 20-minute portion of practice open to the media.
