The Rams’ decision at running back looks like a game-day decision.

Rookie Todd Gurley, the No. 10 overall pick in draft, has been working his way back from November knee surgery and, as expected, has been ruled out for Sunday’s season opener against the two-time defending NFC champion Seattle Seahawks. The game, at the Edward Jones Dome, will kick off at noon Central time.

Second-year pro Tre Mason, last year’s top rusher, has been slowed by a hamstring injury and has not practiced all week. Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Mason is questionable for Sunday.

Next up is Benny Cunningham, a third-year pro and the team’s primary kickoff return man.

“He’s had a really good week,” Fisher said. “His production speaks for itself. If Tre can’t go, Benny will go, Isaiah (Pead) will go and Chase (Reynolds) will go. We’ll be in good shape.”

The only other on the injury report is third-year linebacker and special teams leader Daren Bates, who hurt his knee in the preseason, was limited in practice and is questionable for Sunday.
