Update: This is a key matchup in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference, where the Galaxy and Portland are tied for third place with 30 points each. In the teams’ first meeting this season, they played to a 0-0 draw June 19 at StubHub Center. The Galaxy has won three of its last four games, although the club is still without its leading scorer, Landon Donovan, who is away playing for the U.S. national team. Portland has the “best goalkeeper in the league” in Donovan Ricketts, according to Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena.
