Update: The Galaxy once again is coming off a loss in which the team surrendered the winning goal in the closing minutes. The Portland Timbers scored in second-half stoppage time for a 2-1 win over the Galaxy a week ago, and now the Galaxy faces another divisional foe in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference. Vancouver is third in the conference with 32 points and the Galaxy is fifth — the last playoff spot — with 30 points. The Whitecaps defeated the Galaxy, 3-1, in their first meeting this season May 11 in Vancouver.
