Adrien Broner-Marcos Maidana bout moving to San Antonio

Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 knockouts) may be a brash undefeated welterweight world champion, but he apparently is not big enough to merit a pay-per-view card from Las Vegas’ MGM Grand yet.

Golden Boy Promotions and Showtime announced Saturday that Broner’s Dec. 14 fight against Argentina’s Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KOs) is moving to San Antonio’s Alamodome and will be televised on Showtime.

The card will include a previously scheduled and now moved fight between Jesus Soto-Karass and Keith Thurman.

Set originally for Nov. 30, also in San Antonio with the fight between Soto-Karass and Thurman, welterweight champion Devon Alexander will now fight Shawn Porter on Dec. 7 on a card headlined by Paulie Malignaggi-Zab Judah at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The card also will feature the World Boxing Assn. super-welterweight title fight between Austin Trout and Erislandy Lara.

Promoter Richard Schaefer said Saturday that it made more sense to shift Broner-Maidana to San Antonio after receiving word from promoters there that the Alamodome was available on that date.
