The Clippers lost to the Denver Nuggets, 104-93, in Las Vegas on Saturday, their fourth loss in five preseason games.

Chris Paul recently mentioned that in his final year in New Orleans, the team went 1-7 in exhibition play and started the regular season with a record of 11-1. He can only hope that the Clippers have a similar trajectory this year.

The Clippers were outshot, 45.8% to 37%, and outrebounded, 45-41, in a game that had five lead changes.

Jamal Crawford, the reigning sixth man of the year, had another huge night, scoring 23 points on six-for-12 shooting in 36 minutes of play. Against the Utah Jazz on Friday, Crawford scored 25 points on eight-for-13 shooting from the field, including five for seven from the three-point line.

Blake Griffin also had another strong game, finishing with a game-high 27 points and grabbing five rebounds. DeAndre Jordan had eight points and 12 rebounds, and Paul finished with 13 points and nine assists.

Australian Joe Ingles started Saturday as Clippers’ Coach Doc Rivers continues to experiment with different starters at small forward. Ingles finished with three points, three rebounds and four fouls in nearly 19 minutes.

Jared Cunningham was a nice surprise off the bench, scoring 10 points (mostly off free throws) in 7 minutes 47 seconds.

The Clippers play at the Warriors on Tuesday.
