The Clippers announced Thursday that forward Matt Barnes will have surgery to repair a torn retina in his left eye.

The team didn’t say when the surgery would happen, but the Clippers did say Barnes will be out a minimum of two weeks following the procedure.

Barnes was injured during Monday night’s game against the Grizzlies, when Memphis forward Zach Randolph hit Barnes with an inadvertent elbow.

Barnes had played in eight games this season and was averaging 5.9 points and 4.3 rebounds a game in 20 minutes.

Barnes let his feeling be known about the season thus far on Twitter.

It’s personally been a rough start to this season for me, from a torn quad, to a torn calf, to a quad… https://t.co/ZeMJQ9sILt— Matt Barnes (@Matt_Barnes22) November 22, 2013

Barnes had missed three games with a bruised right thigh.

Barnes also was fined $25,000 by the NBA last week for inappropriate language he used on Twitter after being ejected from the Clippers-Thunder game last week because of a fight with Oklahoma’s Serge Ibaka.
