Clippers ready to take on Warriors
After a not-so-pleasant start to the regular season, the Clippers are looking to move on and prosper.
They know it won’t be easy when they play the three-point-shooting Golden State Warriors in L.A.’s home opener Thursday night at Staples Center.
It will be another chance for the Clippers to show a nationally televised audience on TNT that they are truly one of the NBA’s elite teams and not a team that will shrink under all the hype.
Clippers Coach Doc Rivers, who will be making his regular-season home debut, watched his team get sideswiped by the Lakers during Tuesday night’s season opener for both teams.
Now Rivers and his team will face the test of trying to slow down the Warriors.
The Warriors led the NBA in three-point shooting last season, making 40.3% of their shots. They made 15 of 27 three-pointers in their home season-opener against the Lakers on Wednesday night in Oakland.
Warriors guard Stephen Curry was the third-best three-point shooter (45.3%) last season, and backcourt mate Klay Thompson was 31st(40.1%).
They combined to go seven-for-12 from three-point range against the Lakers on Wednesday. Thompson was five-for-seven from three-point range, part of the reason why he scored a career-high 38 points.
